Greek club attacks Kapo's corruption claims

Greek Super League club Levadiakos have criticised former player Olivier Kapo for claiming Greek football was "corrupt".

The former France international striker told French website sofoot.com that "everything is corrupt in the Greek Super League".

Kapo, who had spells with English clubs Wigan and Birmingham and briefly with Scottish giants Celtic, added: "To give you an idea, of 18 matches away last season with Levadiakos, we had only one point, yet we managed to finish ninth.

"I do not understand. In what other league can you see that?

"UEFA does not pay attention to Greece. Some matches are played until the 99th minute. These are situations that should not exist in football."

He accused Levadiakos of being "run like a mafia. I got only half the salary I was supposed to get."

Levadiakos issued a strong rebuttal in the form of a statement which read: "What he says is a figment of his imagination because of the painful economic situation which he is in and we reserve all our legal rights."

Kapo's former manager in Greece, Pavlos Topidis, suggested on Facebook that his former client "would be better addressing the competent bodies" than voicing his accusations on websites.

Kapo, 34, now plays for Polish club Korona Kielce.
