Ghana will be without key striker Asamoah Gyan and Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.

Caretaker coach Maxwell Konadu announced a 23-man squad on Monday but the four-time African champions will be missing captain Gyan, who now plays in the United Arab Emirates, and Asamoah, who are both injured.

The 'Black Stars', who won the last of their continental titles back in 1982, top Group E with eight points from Togo on six, and both Uganda and Guinea on four.

They take on Uganda in Kampala on Saturday before hosting Togo in Kumasi four days later.

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant was last week appointed full-time coach and may be in place for the final two qualifiers if the terms of his contract are settled.

The final stages are scheduled for Morocco from January 17, although a final decision has yet to taken whether the tournament will go ahead and if it will still take place in Morocco, due to concerns over the Ebola outbreak affecting west Africa.
