Congo expect Gandze to be fit for final group game

Congo Brazzaville coach Claude Le Roy said he expects injured midfielder Cesair Gandze to be fit in time for Sunday's crunch Africa Cup of Nations Group A clash against Burkina Faso.

AC Leopards star Gandze came off in the second half of Wednesday's 1-0 win against Gabon with a leg injury and did not train with the rest of the Congo squad on Thursday evening in Bata.

However, Le Roy said the 25-year-old midfielder will be available for the final group game against Burkina Faso in Ebebiyin, 200 kilometres from Bata, on Sunday.

"It's not a serious injury. He will be fit although we have 23 players to choose from in the squad," the experienced French coach Le Roy said.

Congo are poised to qualify for the quarter-finals after their win against Gabon, which was their first victory at the finals since 1974.
