Gebre Selassie extends Werder deal until 2018

Werder Bremen's Theodor Gebre Selassie has agreed terms on a two-year contract extension with the Bundesliga outfit, the club announced on Wednesday.

The Czech right back's previous deal was to due to expire in summer 2016 but will now run out in June 2018.

"I feel home here and have done since my first day at the club. The past few months have shown how far we have developed as a team.

"I'm looking forward to being part of this team and to help the club progress," the 28-year-old said.

Gebre Selassie, born in Czech Republic to an Ethiopian father and a Czech mother, joined the German side in 2012 from Slovan Liberec.

He has played in 69 Bundesliga games and scored five goals for the Green-Whites.

Werder, who have not lost a game since the winter break, are eighth in the German league ahead of Saturday's Schalke clash.
