Perth Glory put aside their off-field dramas to go joint top of Australia's A-League following a 2-0 win over bottom team Newcastle Jets on Monday.

In their first match since Football Federation Australia (FFA) issued the club with a second show-cause notice over alleged salary cap breaches, they fought off the resilient Jets to join Melbourne Victory at the top of the standings.

Perth led in the 50th minute via Irishman Andy Keogh's close-range header before substitute Nebojsa Marinkovic secured all the points with a powerful strike in the 84th minute.

The win could still amount to nothing for Perth, who have until Wednesday to reply to the latest allegations of salary cap breaches.

FFA alleges the Glory have failed to report payments and benefits to multiple players, leading to a significant breach of the club's salary cap this season.

If the allegations are proven Perth Glory could lose competition points.
