Gomes makes Valencia move permanent

Portuguese international midfielder Andre Gomes has made his loan move to Valencia from Benfica permanent after signing a five-year contract with the Spanish club on Friday.

The 21-year-old, who was a regular in the Valencia side that finished fourth in La Liga in the season just finished to qualify for next season's Champions League play-offs, put pen to paper on a deal through to June 30, 2020, the club confirmed in a statement.

Portuguese champions Benfica said that Valencia had paid 15 million euros ($16.9m) for Gomes, although the payment will be made to the Meriton Capital investment fund that bought the player's rights in February 2014.
