England beat Colombia to advance to last 16

England beat Colombia 2-1 to advance to the last 16 of the Women's World Cup on Wednesday.

Goals from Karen Carney and a Fara Williams penalty saw England advance second in Group F behind France who whipped Mexico 5-0 in Ottawa.

England next play Norway in Ottawa on Monday, while Colombia will also advance as one of the best third-place finishers.

But 15th-ranked Mexico are on their way home.

Carney scored first on 15 minutes firing between the legs of Colombia goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda, and Williams added another after 38 minutes from a penalty -- awarded after Carolina Arias handled in the area.

Lady Andrade got a goal back for the Colombians four minutes into injury time.

England lost their opening match to France 1-0 but bounced back with two wins, including a 2-1 win over the Mexicans in their second game.
