Slovakia's Holosko signs for Sydney FC

Sydney FC has signed Slovakian international forward Filip Holosko as their marquee A-League player on a two-year deal, the club said on Monday.

The Sky Blues snapped up the forward from Turkish giants Besiktas where he spent eight years, scoring 42 goals in 144 games.

"The signing of Holosko is the latest in a long list of first-class marquee players to have worn the Sydney FC shirt," club chairman Scott Barlow said.

Holosko, 31, has played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions for Besiktas and has 65 caps for Slovakia.

"Filip is a multi-functional player who can play anywhere across the front-line," coach Graham Arnold said.

"He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad."

Holosko joins former Serbian international and Dynamo Kiev midfielder Milos Ninkovic as Sydney FC's major signings ahead of the new A-League season in October.
