McGhee returns as Motherwell manager

Mark McGhee has returned to Motherwell for a second spell as manager, the Scottish Premiership club announced on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old, currently Scotland's assistant manager, is returning to Fir Park on a contract until May 2017, having previously worked there between 2007 and 2009.

McGhee succeeds Ian Baraclough, who was sacked last month following a League Cup defeat by Greenock Morton, and takes over with Motherwell ninth in the Scottish top flight.

"I was really keen to get back into club management, but the destination was important," McGhee told the club website.

"I've had several things put to me over the last few years, but it was important I returned at a club that was close to my heart and was a real challenge."
