Jamaica's Winfried Schaefer will take the Reggae Boyz into next month's World Cup qualifiers with his future open after receiving job offers from the Middle East, according to SID information.

Schaefer has a contract as Jamaica's head coach until 2018, but a release clause in his contract would allow him to leave before then.

The 65-year-old steered the Caribbean side to July's Gold Cup final, when they inflicted a shock defeat on hosts the United States in the semis, before losing to Mexico.

After beating Nicaragua over two-legs in last month's CONCACAF qualifiers for the World Cup, Jamaica now face Panama, Haiti and Costa Rica in the fourth round in their bid to qualify for Russia 2018.

Jamaica host Panama in their opening Group B match in Kingston on November 13 and are bidding to reach the World Cup for only the second time in their history.

"I want to take Jamaica to the World Cup. After 1998, it would be only the second time it has happened," Schaefer told SID, an AFP subsidiary, in an interview.

"The get-out clause in my contract is well known.

"Perhaps I will take Jamaica to the World Cup, but in order to do that, we must have a professional environment and work responsibly.

"If we don't qualify, we all know the nature of the business."

According to SID information, Schaefer has been offered jobs in Kuwait and Cairo, but the German says he has no interest in job hopping having coached Jamaica since 2013.

"First of all, I'm not a coach who calls the newspapers before talking to my employers about my contract.

"Secondly, I know the business very well on the part of clubs or associations, who will dissolve a contract quickly, so I have the right to leave if things aren't working out any more."
