Melo set for scans after nasty head clash

Inter Milan midfielder Felipe Melo was taken to hospital for scans on a head injury following a clash with a teammate in a 1-0 home win over Genoa on Saturday, said reports.

Brazil international Melo clashed with Chilean star Gary Medel during the opening half and, after reporting he was suffering dizzy spells, the 32-year-old was replaced at half-time.

"I don't remember a thing," a dazed-looking Melo said when asked by Sky Sport reporters what he recalled of the incident, before being driven to hospital.

Inter coach Roberto Mancini later said: "He went to the hospital. He's feeling not too bad despite the fact he doesn't remember a thing about what happened."

Medel was left with a nasty graze to the head before the Chilean suffered more pain in the second half after clashing with Genoa's Nicolas Burdisso.

Inter, who saw Danilo D'Ambrosio sent off late in the game for a second bookable offence, held on to go two points clear at the top of Serie A although Napoli will restore their one-point lead with a win at Bologna on Sunday.
