Roma boss Spalletti moving on from Totti spat

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti said on Friday he didn't want to speak any further about last week's highly-publicised spat with club legend Francesco Totti.

Totti was excluded from Roma's matchday squad hours before Sunday's 5-0 rout of Palermo after the 39-year-old hit out at Spalletti and demanded more "respect" in a scathing television interview.

"I don't want to speak about this story anymore. Everything is fine," Spalletti said at a press conference ahead of Roma's trip to Empoli in Serie A on Saturday.

"I would do the same thing with anyone because the team always counts more than individuals," he added.

Totti, who is in his 23rd season with Roma, had been set to make a rare start last weekend after recovering from a troublesome injury, but he was discarded by Spalletti after voicing his frustrations publicly on the eve of the match.

However, Spalletti insisted things had since settled down, adding: "He did what I thought he was going to do. The next day he arrived early for training and did everything he had to do very peacefully."

Fourth-place Roma, who trail leaders Juventus by eight points, have reignited their season since Spalletti replaced Frenchman Rudi Garica last month and are chasing a sixth straight league win at Empoli.
