England map out warm-up path to Euro 2016

England will prepare for Euro 2016 with warm-up friendlies against Turkey, Australia and Portugal, the English Football Association announced on Friday.

"I'm happy that we have been able to secure three challenging opponents that will help us prepare for the tournament," England boss Roy Hodgson said.

"Since the Euro group draw in Paris last December, The FA has worked hard to put together a programme of games around the country and we're looking forward to playing in the north-west and north-east of the country before the final home game at Wembley."

Hodgson's side play Turkey at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium on May 22, followed by Australia at Sunderland's Stadium of Light five days later with Portugal at Wembley on June 2.

Hodgson will announce his 23-man squad for the European Championship on May 12 at Wembley.

England begin their Euro campaign against Russia in Marseille on June 11.

They then face Wales in Lens, before travelling to Saint-Etienne to play Slovakia in their final Group B match.

Hodgson's men step up their preparations for France by this month travelling to world champions Germany and then hosting the Netherlands in friendlies.
