Inter blow as Icardi suffers knee injury

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi could be facing a spell on the sidelines after being forced off eight minutes into Saturday's game against Bologna with a twisted knee.

Icardi suffered the injury in the opening minutes of the San Siro encounter and despite trying to play on was forced off and replaced with French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

A statement from Inter said Argentinian striker Icardi "has twisted his right knee. The injury will be assessed over the coming days."

Inter coach Roberto Mancini will be hoping Icardi returns quickly to the fray.

The Nerazzurri are one of several teams chasing the league's third and last Champions League qualifying place but started Saturday's match in fifth spot, 13 points behind leaders Juventus and five behind third-placed Roma.
