Castillo in, Chandler out for US at Copa Centenario

Monterrey defender Edgar Castillo was added to the US roster for next month's Copa America Centenario on Friday as an injury replacement for Eintracht Frankfurt's Tim Chandler.

US national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann made the move after doctors diagnosed Chandler with a right quadriceps strain suffered while playing for the Bundesliga side in a relegation playoff win that kept them among the German elite next season.

Castillo, whose 18 career caps include starting roles in the past two US World Cup qualifying matches, will join the American camp after thois weekend's Mexican League finals. Monterrey plays Friday at Pachuca with the return leg scheduled for Sunday.

Copa rules allow for replacements of injured players up to 24 hours prior to a team's opening match. The Americans will face Colombia on June 3 in the tournament opener.

A final US warm-up match for the showdown with North and South American squads will be played against Bolivia on Saturday at Kansas City.
