Roma have completed the signing of Argentina international left-back Jonathan Silva from Sporting Lisbon on loan with an option to buy.

The 23-year-old, who has two caps for Argentina, started his career at home in Estudiantes, before moving to Sporting in the summer of 2014. He was on loan at Boca Juniors last season.

"I'm very happy to have arrived in Rome, it's incredible for me, I'm very motivated: I want to make a contribution to this great group of players," said Silva.

This season he has played six league games for Sporting and four in the Champions League.

"Jonathan is a young player who has already demonstrated personality and quality, characteristics that allowed him to play in an important club like Sporting," said Roma director of football Monchi.
