Brazilian forward Francisco Wanderson, who plays for Russian top flight side FC Krasnodar, said Tuesday he was ready to play for Russia in the future.

Russia manager Fabio Capello has called on the national football union to consider selecting foreign players in order to boost the national squad.

And Wanderson, along with compatriot Mario Fernandes, who plays for CSKA Moscow, have both said they would be interested in playing for Russia.

"I will definitely accept a proposal to play for Russia if I receive it," the ITAR-TASS news agency quoted Wanderson as saying.

The 28-year-old, who had played for Brazilian club Fortaleza and Swedish second division outfit GAIS before joining FC Krasnodar in 2012, won the Russian league top scorer's title in his inaugural season.

Defender Fernandes, 23, played 58 times and scored one goal for Brazilian side Gremio before CSKA Moscow signed him in 2012.

And he said last week that he would consider playing for Russia after Italian coach Capello complained of the limited choice for Russia's national side.

The 68-year-old former England manager called on Russia Football Union chiefs to consider selecting foreign players who expressed a willingness to change citizenship in order to get into the Russian squad.

"Many European teams have been using this strategy. Why did Russia neglect this opportunity?" said Capello.

Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko has recently said that he was ready to consider this option with Russia hosting the World Cup in 2018.

"The naturalization of foreign players is feasible," Mutko told the Soviet Sport daily.

"We're ready to offer Capello two or three players for his team but we shall first discuss comprehensively all the possible candidates.

"Capello has the deciding voice as he will prepare the team for the 2018 World Cup and will be responsible for its performance."

Russia were eliminated in the pool phase of the World Cup in Brazil where they were in the same group as Belgium, Algeria and South Korea.
