Uncapped Colback out of England friendly

New England call-up Jack Colback will miss Wednesday's friendly game against Norway due to injury, manager Roy Hodgson revealed on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Newcastle United midfielder was awarded his first call-up for England's first game since the World Cup, but Hodgson revealed that he would not be fit enough to face Per-Mathias Hogmo's side.

"All but one of the squad are fit. Jack Colback is out of the game tomorrow," Hodgson told a press conference in Watford, 20 miles (32 kilometres) north of London.

"We were hoping he would recover, but it's looking like it's come a day too soon for him."

Hodgson has also given first call-ups to Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose, and Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph.

However, he said that there would be no debutants in his starting XI against Norway at Wembley Stadium.

"The starting line-up will be a young one. It will contain some interesting talents and has enormous potential," Hodgson said.

"There will be no-one making their debut from the start, but there will be one or two players who won't have had many starts."

Hodgson will use the game to prepare his side for their first 2016 European Championship Group E qualifying match away to Switzerland next Tuesday.
