Sakho says sorry for Anfield exit

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has apologised to supporters for leaving Anfield before the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.

A fan photographed the 24-year-old France defender, who was not included in Reds manager Brendan Rodgers's matchday squad, leaving Liverpool's home ground before kick-off.

The Premier League clash between the city rivals ended in a 1-1 draw after Everton captain Phil Jagielka's late long-range wonder-strike cancelled out Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard's free-kick opener.

Former Paris Saint-Germain favourite Sakho used his Facebook page to make it clear he had not meant to cause any offence.

"I really want to apologise to the club, the supporters and every person who felt offended when I left the stadium this afternoon," he said on his Facebook page.

"I'm aware that it was a bad choice from my part to go isolating (by myself) to watch the game!"
