Strachan calls up uncapped duo for Euro qualifiers

Scotland coach Gordon Strachan on Tuesday called up the uncapped pair of Stevie May and Ryan Gauld for European Championship Group D qualifiers against Georgia and Poland.

The duo both left Scotland in the summer, May for Sheffield Wednesday and 18-year-old Gauld for Sporting Lisbon, where he has been named in the Portuguese club's Champions League squad.

Aberdeen defender Mark Reynolds is among just three Scottish-based players in the squad alongside Celtic pair Craig Gordon and Scott Brown.

Midfielder Brown returns after missing the opening qualifier 2-1 defeat in Germany with a hamstring injury.

His Celtic team-mates Callum MacGregor and Charlie Mulgrew drop out, the latter having picked up a knee injury, along with Wolves midfielder Kevin McDonald.

Reynolds keeps his place after getting a late call-up for the opening qualifier against the world champions.

Scotland host Georgia at Ibrox on October 11, and travel to Warsaw to play Poland three days later.
