Ludogorets put Bulgaria on the Champions League map

Ludogorets Razgrad were the pride of Bulgaria Wednesday when their last-gasp 1-0 win over 10-man Basel secured a Bulgarian team their first-ever Champions League group phase points.

Ludogorets defender Yordan Minev was the man who grabbed the glory on a late break.

The 34-year-old ran onto a pass from substitute Wanderson, cut inside a defender before unleashing a hard low shot from 20 yards that beat Tomas Vaclik in the Basel goal for a famous victory.

The Swiss outfit -- who had beaten Liverpool in their previous Champions League outing -- played the majority of the match with 10 men after Ivory Coast international defender Geoffroy Serey Die was sent off for a clumsy challenge after just 18 minutes.

The win lifts Ludogorets to second in Group B behind Real Madrid, who have nine points, ahead of Liverpool and Basel on goal difference with all three clubs on three points.
