European football governing body UEFA on Monday opened disciplinary proceedings against Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Prague over violence between rival fans when the teams met Thursday in the Europa League.

The match was delayed for half an hour after rival fans battled.

Around a dozen Sparta fans scaled a fence to attack Bratislava supporters, who fled on to the field of play after 40 minutes.

Both sides are being investigated over their fans' use of fireworks and their role in the violence, while hosts Slovan are also accused of "organisational failure".

The case will be heard on October 30.

Another disciplinary proceeding has been brought against Metalist Kharkiv for "racist behaviour" by their fans, as well as use of fireworks and the unfurling of a banned banner during the Ukrainians' Europa League clash with Legia Warsaw.

That case will be heard on November 13.
