Lichtsteiner extends with Juve

Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Juventus until at least 2017, the Italian champions announced Tuesday.

Lichtsteiner's current deal was set to expire in June, but the 30-year-old -- who can play as a wingback or a right-sided defender -- has signed a two-year extension with the option for a further year.

A club statement said: "During his three-and-a-half seasons in Turin, Lichtsteiner has been an integral part of a side who have won three Serie A titles and two Super Cups.

"Everyone at Juventus Football Club is looking forward to enjoying more of Stephan's contributions in the famous black and white jersey for the years to come."

Juventus, who have won the past three Italian titles, sit top of Serie A, one game before the halfway stage of the season with a three-point lead on title challengers Roma.
