Hamburg's Germany midfielder Lewis Holtby has broken a collarbone and will be out of action for ten weeks, the Bundesliga club said on Friday.

The 24-year-old picked up the injury in a 3-0 friendly win over German rivals Eintracht Frankfurt while on a winter break in Dubai, where in fact he will be operated on.

Struggling near the bottom of the Bundesliga with only two points separating the bottom five, Hamburg take on relegation rivals Cologne when league action resumes next weekend.
