Rolando the latest new face at Marseille

Portuguese international central defender Rolando has become the latest player to sign for Marseille, the French club announced on Monday.

OM made their move for the 19-times capped defender after attempts to sign Belgian international Jason Denayer from Manchester City failed.

They did not confirm the length of deal agreed with the Cape Verde-born player, who was part of the Porto side that won the Europa League under Andre Villas-Boas in 2011.

Since then he has struggled to impress during loan spells with Napoli, Inter Milan and Anderlecht.

Now he becomes the 13th new signing made by Marseille this summer following the departures of leading players such as Andre-Pierre Gignac, Andre Ayew and Dimitri Payet.

Spaniard Michel was also recently appointed as coach after Marcelo Bielsa resigned in the wake of a defeat to Caen on the opening weekend of the season.
