Manchester City defender Jason Denayer has joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a season-long loan, the Premier League leaders announced on Monday.

Denayer signed a new five-year contract with City in the close-season, but the recent arrival of Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi means boss Manuel Pellegrini has allowed him to go on loan to gain further experience.

It is the second successive season the 20-year-old Belgium international has spent away from Eastlands having impressed on loan at Scottish champions Celtic last term.

Denayer's arrival will bolster Galatasaray's bid to make an impression in the Champions League after they were drawn in Group C along with Benfica, Atletico Madrid and Astana.

"Jason Denayer has joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a season-long loan. We wish Jason all the best," a statement on City's website read.
