Wayne Rooney, James Milner, Michael Carrick, Gary Cahill and Joe Hart will sit out England's final Euro 2016 qualifier away to Lithuania on Monday, manager Roy Hodgson revealed on Friday.

"Roy Hodgson confirms that James Milner, Michael Carrick, Gary Cahill, Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart will be rested for Lithuania and won't travel," the Football Association tweeted after a 2-0 win over Estonia.

Goalkeeper Hart, centre-back Cahill and midfielder Milner played against Estonia, but captain Rooney was absent with an ankle injury and midfielder Carrick missed out due to a groin problem.

All five will now return to their respective clubs as England go in search of a 10th win in 10 Group E games in Vilnius.
