Two Brazil footballers wanted in Canada for sex assault

Canadian police on Thursday issued arrest warrants for two Brazilian athletes over the alleged sexual assault of a Toronto woman during the Pan Am Games in July.

The two members of the Brazilian football team -- Lucas Domingues Piazon and Andrey Da Silva Ventura -- met the 21-year-old victim and another woman at a Toronto nightclub on July 25 and accompanied them to the home of one of the women, where the assault is alleged to have taken place.

"The victim, once she arrived at home, went to sleep. The men then entered the bedroom and sexually assaulted her," Toronto police Inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins told a press conference.

Two days later, the two men flew back to Brazil.

Toronto police previously has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Brazilian water polo player over the alleged sexual assault of a 22-year-old Toronto woman in her home on the morning of July 16, also on the sidelines of the Pan Am Games.

The accused in that case, Thye Mattos Ventura Bezerra, left Canada afterwards and travelled to Russia with his team to compete in the World Aquatics Championships.
