Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has suffered a fresh injury setback after a foot problem ruled him out of a return to action in Thursday's Europa League clash against Bordeaux.

Sturridge was hoping to feature in the Anfield fixture as he looked to get back to action following a knee injury which has kept him out since early October.

However, the injury-prone England international has reportedly been sent for a scan after complaining of discomfort in a foot.

The 26-year-old had trained normally with the rest of Jurgen Klopp's squad on Wednesday before the problem flared up.

Sturridge has played just three games this season, scoring twice, after missing large chunks of last term due to injury.
