Porto poach coach Peseiro from Al Ahly

FC Porto have appointed Jose Peseiro as their coach until June 2017, the 2004 European Champions confirmed on Tuesday.

The club who hit the heights under Jose Mourinho's reign with their Champions League triumph, fired the previous incumbent Spain's Julen Lopetegui ten days ago after a series of lacklustre results.

Peseiro, 55, notably a Real Madrid assistant coach during the Carlos Queiroz era, had also spent a year at Sporting Lisbon but was most recently in the hot-seat at Cairo giants Al Ahly.

Porto are third in the Portuguese championship, but have been knocked out of the Champions League and will instead contest the latter stages of the Europa League, which the club won in 2003.
