Koeman confirms Wenger bust-up

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed he had a post-match row with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, but insists the bust-up won't damage their relationship.

Koeman and Wenger were reported to have exchanged words in the tunnel following Tuesday's goalless draw at Emirates Stadium.

Wenger, incensed that decisions went against Arsenal in a match that saw them lose ground on Premier League leaders Leicester, was said to have shouted at referee Lee Mason: "It's always the same with you", with Koeman responding to the Frenchman by saying "No, it's always the same with you."

Koeman admitted the incident had taken place as it was reported, but was adamant it was all in the heat of the moment and that it would not affect his friendship with Wenger.

"What was written in the press was true, and that's all," Koeman told reporters on Friday. "It's emotions in football and it happened, and we go on.

"Do I regret it? If I talk it's what I mean, of course. No, I don't think (it will affect our relationship).

"It's always a little bit of emotions and he was very disappointed about the result because they had some good chances."
