Iwobi thrilled by first Arsenal goal

Nigerian teenager Alex Iwobi said he was happy to have played a part as his side bounced back from recent disappointments by winning 2-0 at Everton on Saturday.

The 19-year-old academy graduate crowned his first Premier League start with a well-taken 42nd-minute goal, adding to an earlier strike by Danny Welbeck, as Arsenal kept their flickering title hopes alive.

Arsene Wenger's side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Watford last weekend before being eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona and Iwobi said that it had been important to get back on track.

Asked how it had felt to score his first Arsenal goal, he said: "It's not bad. I enjoyed the moment. But I'm happy that the team won. That's the positive. That's what we're going to take into the next game.

"We're all confident in training. Even though we had a difficult week, we're trying to put that aside and concentrate on the league."

Iwobi represented England at youth level, but switched allegiances to Nigeria -- the country of his birth -- last year.

He has now started three of Arsenal's last four matches and said he was learning from playing alongside England international Welbeck.

"I'm enjoying training and playing with him," Iwobi told BT Sport at Goodison Park. "He gives me confidence, always helping me out, giving me advice."
