Tendon injury sidelines Immobile for Italy, Torino

On-loan Torino striker Ciro Immobile is set for a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury that could dent his chances of Euro 2016 selection.

Immobile was forced off during a 4-1 Turin derby defeat to Juventus on Sunday, ending his chances of playing in friendlies against Spain and Germany in the coming days having been named in Antonio Conte's squad on Saturday.

Immobile underwent scans on Tuesday which revealed a "first grade lesion" in one of the tendons on his right thigh, according to a Torino statement.

It added: "The prognosis is around 30 days."

Immobile is owned by Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, who sent him on loan to Sevilla for a season last term and then back to Torino, where he played in the 2013-2014 season, last January for another loan spell.

As well as missing international fixtures, Immobile, who has scored five league goals since January, will miss upcoming Serie A games with Inter Milan, Atalanta, Bologna and Roma.

Torino sit 14th in Serie A, 37 points behind leaders and city rivals Juventus and five points above the relegation zone.
