Bayern's Martinez out of PSV Eindhoven clash

Bayern Munich will be without Spain international Javi Martinez for Tuesday's Champions League clash at PSV Eindhoven, the German giants have confirmed.

The centre-back went off after only 29 minutes of the Bundesliga leaders' 3-1 win at Ausgburg on Saturday and Bayern confirmed on Sunday that he will miss the Eindhoven clash after injuring his left thigh.

"He didn't feel good and he felt there was something or other up with the muscle," said Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"I didn't want to take a risk."

No details have been given of how long the 28-year-old Martinez will be out for.

Robert Lewandowski netted twice against Augsburg, while Dutch winger Arjen Robben was outstanding with two assists and a goal.

Ancelotti said he took Robben off for the final 14 minutes as a precautionary measure to ensure he "was okay" to face last season's Dutch champions at Eindhoven's Philips Stadion.

Brazil defender Rafinha is available again after suffering a groin injury last week.

Alongside Martinez, French winger Franck Ribery is also unavailable as he recovers from a leg injury, but the 33-year-old did some running exercises during Sunday's training session.

Bayern are second in Group D, three points behind Atletico Madrid, who they host on December 6 having already lost 1-0 in Spain, while Eindhoven are bottom of the table with one point from their three games.
