Thiago returns to boost Bayern for Arsenal clash

Bayern Munich have been given a boost ahead of next month's Champions League last-16 clash against Arsenal with playmaker Thiago Alcantara back in training.

The Spain international tore his right hamstring during the Bundesliga leaders' Doha training camp at the start of the month, but has returned to training after 18 days out with injury.

The club posted a video of the 25-year-old being put through his paces in sub-zero temperatures at Bayern's training ground with light running and ball skills on Tuesday.

He should be fit in time for the Gunners clash when the Germans will be bidding to reach the quarter-finals for the sixth season in a row, while Arsenal have not progressed past the last 16 in Europe since 2009/10.

Bayern host the Premier League side on February 15 at the Allianz Arena, where the German giants have won a record 15 home Champions League games, with the return in London on March 7.

The Bavarians should have most of their stars back with only Jerome Boateng facing a race to be fit after shoulder surgery.

Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal is expected to return in the coming weeks after bruised ribs.

Bayern are three points clear in Germany's top flight and face Werder Bremen, who are just above the bottom three, on Saturday in the Bundesliga.
