Thiago adds to Spain casualty list for Israel

Thiago Alcantara dropped out of the Spain squad for Monday's trip to Israel due to an ankle ligament injury, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) confirmed on Saturday.

The Bayern Munich midfielder will return to Germany after scoring in Friday's 3-0 win over Albania which secured Spain's place in next year's World Cup with a game to spare.

"Thiago Alcantara has left the national team camp due to a sprain in the internal ankle ligament which will prevent him from playing against Israel," the RFEF said in a statement.

Gerard Pique and David Silva will also not travel to Jerusalem as they miss out due to suspension.

Spain boss Julien Lopetegui has already had to call in Alvaro Odriozola, Jonathan Viera and Aritz Aduriz as replacements for the injured Alvaro Morata, Andres Iniesta and Dani Carvajal.
