RB Leipzig sign teen Wolf from sister club Salzburg

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig confirmed Wednesday they have signed 19-year-old Austrian midfielder Hannes Wolf from sister club Red Bull Salzburg as of July 1 -- after he twice helped beat them in the Europa League.

The teenage Austria Under-21 international, who won the UEFA Youth League title in 2016-17 with Salzburg, has signed a contract until June 2023 for an undisclosed sum.

"Hannes Wolf has attracted attention with a remarkably good development," said Leipzig head coach Ralf Rangnick.

"He is versatile in the attacking midfield and we are delighted that he has chosen us to take the next steps in his career as of this summer."

Leipzig know all about Wolf from their two matches against Salzburg earlier this season when he played a key role when his current club beat the Bundesliga outfit both home and away in the Europa League group stage.

So far this season, Wolf has scored five goals and set up nine more in 23 league games for Salzburg in all competitions.

Wolf is the second youngster to be snapped up by Leipzig, currently fourth in Germany's top tier, from Salzburg in the current transfer window after Mali international Amadou Haidara, 20, signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga club as of January 1.
