Mixed fortunes for Zimbabwean Mutizwa

Zimbabwean Knox Mutizwa scored and wasted a great chance to claim a second goal for Golden Arrows as they drew 1-1 at Chippa United Friday in the South African Premiership.

The 25-year-old Bulawayo-born striker put the Durban outfit ahead after 22 minutes at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth by blasting a cutback into the net from close range.

And soon after Chippa levelled on 70 minutes, Mutizwa headed over off a Divine Lunga cross when he seemed set to put the visiting club back into the lead in a clash of bottom-half teams.

Mutizwa has scored six Premiership goals this season, two less than joint leaders Tshegofatso Mabasa of Bloemfontein Celtic and Zambian Mwape Musonda of Black Leopards.

Rhulani Manzini scored his first goal of the league campaign to earn Chippa a point, slamming a loose ball past Nkosingiphile Gumede from just outside the six-yard box.

Gumede almost gifted Chippa victory in the fourth minute of stoppage time as he fumbled a routine cross and narrowly prevented it crossing the goalline.

A draw was a predictable outcome as the previous four Premiership matches between Chippa and Arrows ended with the points being shared.

Arrows remained 10th and Chippa rose one place to 12th as coach Clinton Larsen extended his unbeaten run in all competitions to six matches since taking charge in January.
