Italian club Brescia will play in Serie A next season after earning promotion to the top flight after a 1-0 win over Ascoli on Wednesday.

The northerners have a seven-point lead on third-placed Palermo with two games left to play.

The top two teams earn automatic promotion with second-placed Lecce well-placed to join Brescia in Serie A next season.

Brescia -- whose only titles have been three Serie B crowns -- last played in Serie A in the 2010-2011 season.

But some top players have graced their ranks including Andrea Pirlo, Pep Guardiola, Gheorghe Hagi and 1993 Ballon d'Or winner Roberto Baggio.
