Krstajic axed as Serbia coach after Ukraine rout

Mladen Krstajic was axed as Serbia coach on Thursday after a 5-0 rout by Ukraine saw his team slip badly off the pace in qualifying for Euro 2020.

"The Serbian Football Federation (FSS) and Krstajic have mutually agreed to terminate (his) contract," an FSS statement said.

The move came after a 5-0 defeat by Ukraine in a Euro 2020 qualifying match earlier this month with a 4-1 win over Lithuania on Monday coming too late to save him.

In Euro 2020 qualifying Group B, which also features defending champions Portugal, Serbia are currently third, six points behind leaders Ukraine.
