Promotion-chasing Bournemouth held by Millwall as QPR climb table

Bournemouth were denied the chance to go second in English football's Championship after Millwall came from behind to force a 1-1 draw with the Cherries on Tuesday.

South coast side Bournemouth, relegated from the Premier League last season after five years in English football's top flight, took the lead in first-half stoppage time through Dominic Solanke.

But Millwall equalised 11 minutes from time when substitute Jake Cooper headed in just seconds after coming off the bench.

The draw left Bournemouth in third place, a point behind Swansea, with only the top two at the end of the regular season guaranteed promotion.

A point away from home saw south London side Millwall climb a place to 16th, with the Lions having a game in hand of the five teams immediately below them.

In Tuesday's other Championship match, Queens Park Rangers ended a 10-game winless run with a 2-0 victory at Luton.

Charlie Austin scored on his second debut for QPR before Macauley Bonne put the result beyond doubt a minute from full time.

Victory moves west London side QPR to 18th in the table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
