Daniel Farke hailed Norwich's 2-0 win over Bristol City as their "best performance" this season as the Championship leaders bolstered their promotion push on Wednesday.

Farke's side moved seven points clear at the top thanks to a goal in either half from Jordan Hugill at Carrow Road.

Bidding for an immediate return to the Premier League following last season's relegation, Norwich are looking good to finish in the automatic promotion places.

"It is always difficult to compare games but I would say this was our best performance of the season so far. The lads were fantastic and I can't praise them enough," Farke said.

"We are in a great position but we are not over the moon or anything like that because there are still a lot of games to play and I expect teams like Brentford and Swansea to win their games in hand. But I am very pleased with what I saw this evening."

Third-placed Brentford kept up the pressure on second-placed Swansea with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Luton that stretched their unbeaten league run to 17 games.

Saman Ghoddos' 15th-minute header was the difference as he headed home Ivan Toney's cross, leaving Brentford just two points behind Swansea.
