Algerian international handed two-year doping ban

Algerian international Youcef Belaili has been handed a two-year ban for doping, the Algerian national league ruling body (LFP) announced on Monday.

"Belaili tested positive for a banned substance. He will be suspended for two years from all national and international competitions," LFP president Mahfoud Kerbadj was reported as saying by the APS agency.

The 23-year-old USM Alger midfielder, who played for Algeria in friendly matches against Qatar and Oman earlier this year, admitted the charge and waived his right to have his B sample tested, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) said.

The positive test was taken after a CAF Champions League match in July.

Belaili will now miss his club's semi-final tie against Al Hilal of Sudan, the first leg of which is scheduled to be played in Khartoum on September 27.
