Antonetti out as Strasbourg coach after takeover

Ligue 1 side Strasbourg parted ways with coach Frederic Antonetti on Tuesday by "mutual consent" following the club's takeover last week by the American owners of Premier League giants Chelsea.

Antonetti was appointed in February and led the team away from the relegation zone to a 15th-place finish. The 61-year-old had previous spells with Saint-Etienne, Nice, Rennes, Lille and Metz.

"A new cycle is starting and I'm sure it's better to end on a good note. We both agree on it," said Strasbourg president Marc Keller.

The BlueCo consortium, led by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and US-based Clearlake Capital, bought a majority stake in Strasbourg on June 22.

Strasbourg are the fifth Ligue 1 club to pass into American ownership after Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse and Le Havre.
