Rangers roared back from a 2-0 deficit to thrash Dundee 5-2 on Tuesday and make Celtic wait to mathematically seal the Scottish Premiership title.

Dundee needed to win to maintain any hope of qualifying for Europe and stunned Ibrox as goals from defenders Jordan McGhee and Antonio Portales put the visitors in command.

Ross McCausland pulled a goal back just before the break but that did not save the Rangers players for being booed from the pitch at half-time.

A 2-1 defeat to Celtic on Saturday that realistically ended Rangers' hopes of winning the title was fresh in the minds of the home fans.

But Philippe Clement did get a response from his injury-hit side in the second half.

"I was very angry," said the Belgian on what he said at half-time. "We need to stand up and show more.

"After the disappointment of losing in the Old Firm, you need to bounce back fast. In the first half, we were not good enough without the ball."

Cyriel Dessers' header levelled before Todd Cantwell's intended cross flew in at the far post.

Substitute Scott Wright added two more goals late on to at least eat into Celtic's goal difference advantage and keep the title race alive.

The Hoops need just one point from their final two games, away to Kilmarnock on Wednesday and home to St. Mirren on Saturday, to be sure of their 12th Scottish title in 13 years.

Rangers must hope for two unlikely Celtic defeats, win away to Hearts on Saturday and overturn a four-goal deficit on goal difference to win the league.
