Football: Zabaleta says City experience can win title

Pablo Zabaleta believes Manchester City's experience of a nerve-wracking run-in could see them snatch the Premier League title just as they did in 2012.

Two years ago, a pair of goals in stoppage-time saw City to a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season as City were crowned champions of England for the first time since 1968, beating their city rivals United on goal difference.

And after seeing City move to within three points of leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand, after a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday, Zabaleta reckons history could yet repeat itself this season.

"We know that we've been in this situation two years ago and I think we had been talking about that last week," said City defender Zabaleta.

"The most important thing we've learned from that experience was the team spirit to keep fighting until the end.

"Whoever ends as the champions, it is because they will deserve it, and we are one of those teams who will fight for it.

"Hopefully we can continue to win the games and show one more time that these players, this team, this manager, all the staff, are still working really hard and are still very hungry for the title."
