QPR set to lose Austin for one match

Premier League strugglers Queens Park Rangers received a boost on Sunday when it was revealed star striker Charlie Austin will miss just one match after picking up an injury during the heartbreaking 1-0 defeat against Southampton.

The 25-year-old Englishman, who has been a sensation since signing from Burnley in 2013, left Loftus Road on crutches on Saturday.

The club announced via their Twitter account that Austin, who has scored 13 goals this season for the relegation threatened West Londoners, was not a major injury concern.

"@chazaustin9 has suffered bruising to his right foot and will miss Tuesday's trip to @SunderlandAFC. Nothing too serious #QPR."

QPR are second from bottom following the defeat but just one point from safety with 14 matches to play.

They are likely to announce in the coming days that former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood will take over the managerial reins following the departure of veteran Harry Redknapp last week.
