France international Bafetimbi Gomis' double increased the pressure on relegation-threatened Hull on Saturday as Swansea eased to a 3-1 win in a game that their opponents finished with just 10 men.

Gomis' brace and Korean Ki Sung-Yueng's seventh of the season -- Paul McShane briefly giving the visitors hope of getting something from the game early in the second-half -- leaves Hull just three points above the drop zone and with an horrific series of matches to come against five of the top six.

For Swansea the win -- only their second at home this year -- edged them to within a point of their record in the Premier League of 47 set in the 2011/12 season.

Swansea had the game by the scruff of the neck come half-time after dominating a woefully poor Hull side that showed little of the spark they had done in a valiant 3-2 defeat at the hands of title chasers Chelsea a fortnight ago.

Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor gifted the opener to Korean star Ki as the Scottish international could only parry Jonjo Shelvey's long range effort and Ki gleefully tucked it away.

The visitors couldn't conjure up one chance of significance and it was no surprise when Swansea doubled their lead with a real cracker of a goal -- Gomis' acrobatically volleying home after the Hull defence proved unable to clear the ball.

Steve Bruce's half-time talk appeared to have done the trick as it was a much more gung-ho Hull side that came out for the second-half and within five minutes they had reduced the deficit as Paul McShane fired home from Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady's freekick.

However, just as they got back into the game David Meyler took the combative approach too far and received a straight red for his ghastly high challenge on Kyle Naughton, who had to be stretchered off.

Hull were fortunate not to go down to nine men as Alex Bruce fouled Gomis twice in quick succession, only getting a booking for the second challenge, though the first one left the French international limping.

Gomis, though, was to have the final laugh as he scored late on to round off a highly satisfactory day for him and a miserable one for hapless Hull.
