Watford's 4-2 comeback victory over West Ham United was motivated by a desire to punish the London team for showboating, according to victorious captain Troy Deeney.

West Ham went 2-0 up in Saturday's Premier League game at London Stadium, but Watford stormed back to give manager Walter Mazzarri his first win.

Dimitri Payet set up West Ham's second goal with a 'rabona' cross -- wrapping his kicking foot behind his standing leg -- and Manuel Lanzini had an effort on goal using the same technique.

Deeney told BBC Radio 5 Live: "As a player, I thought they were trying to mug us off a little bit.

"You can appreciate good skill and that was great skill for the second goal, but as a professional you cannot allow someone to do that to you.

"You see that in the playground with six and seven-year-olds, and we are grown men.

"There were some harsh words said to each other and everyone had that fire in their belly again."
