Cardiff sink Forest to keep pressure on Wolves

Cardiff beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 as the promotion chasers closed the gap on Championship leaders Wolves on Sunday.

Neil Warnock's second-placed side are four points behind Wolves after goals from Junior Hoilett and Danny Ward gave them a fourth consecutive victory at the City Ground.

Forest have now lost seven of their last eight clashes with the Bluebirds since they last beat them in October 2012.

Mark Warburton's team had been in good form at home, winning their previous four outings at the City Ground.

But Cardiff took the lead through Hoilett's 24th-minute header.

Forest's luck was out again when Cardiff's Bruno Manga appeared to handle in the penalty area, only for the referee to wave play on.

Ward rubbed salted into Forest's wounds when he put Cardiff two goals up with a stunning 20-yard strike into the top corner seven minutes before half-time.
